Human Trafficking: What Parents Need to Know
In this training, parents will learn the process a trafficker uses to find, groom, and exploit victims. Red flags, vulnerabilities, and at-risk populations will be discussed to help you spot signs early on. You will learn who can be a trafficker and who can be a victim as well as the difficulties a victim faces in returning to life as a survivor. The training will include local statistics on trafficking as well as Texas based resources in order to empower you in the fight against human trafficking. Trafficking has become largely an online process, this training will take the recent global move to online platforms due to COVID-19 into consideration in order to address current concerns and tactics.

Special Education Dispute Resolution--When Schools and Parents Disagree
Procedural safeguards are designed to protect the rights of parents and their child with a disability and, at the same time, give families and school systems several mechanisms by which to resolve their disputes. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) offers multiple processes for resolving disputes related to special education: individualized education program facilitation (FIEP), mediation, special education complaints, and due process hearings. Join us for this parent session to review your special education dispute resolution options and discuss related dispute resolution information specific to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Charting the Course is a Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and ESC-20 collaborative activity.
